Directions | Melting instructions: Stove top: a heavy 2 quart pan works best. Melt over low heat stirring frequently until smooth. If a double-boiler is used, place bark in boiler over hot, not boiling, water. Stir until melted. Microwave: use a microwave-safe bowl (preferably glass), melt on full power for 1 1/2 minutes. Stir. Return to microwave for 15 second intervals until melted. Stir between intervals. Tips for using almond bark: Always use dry utensils. Moisture causes bark to harden. Always stir frequently to distribute heat. Even melted almond bark will retain its original shape until stirred. If coating becomes thick from overheating, add solid vegetable shortening (like Crisco) 1 tablespoon or so at a time while heating over low heat. Do not use, water, milk, food coloring, oil, liquor, margarine or butter while thinning. Storage: keep in a cool place, below 75F if possible. At higher temperatures chocolate grays in color, but neither flavor nor quality are impaired. |
