Directions | Basic recipe: Each serving is about 1/2 cup. To make - 2 servings. Water - 1/2 cup. Milk - 1/3 cup. Margarine or butter- 1 Tbsp. Salt - 1/8 tsp. Potato granules - 1/4 cup. To make - 4 servings. Water - 1 1/2 cups. Milk - 1/2 cup. Margarine or butter - 2 tsp. Salt 1/4 tsp. Potato granules - 1 pouch. To make - 8 servings. Water - 2 1/2 cups. Milk - 1 cup. Margarine or butter - 4 tsp. Salt - 1/2 tsp. Potato granules - 2 pouches. Stovetop directions: 1. Heat water, milk, margarine and salt just to a boil in saucepan (bubbles are beginning to break on surface). 2. Remove from heat. Gradually add potato granules, stirring with fork until moistened. 3. Stir with fork about 30 seconds or until potatoes are desired consistency. Refrigerate leftovers. Microwave directions: 1. Combine water, milk, margarine and salt in microwave-safe bowl. 2. Stir in potato granules gradually until moistened; cover. 3. Microwave on high: Serving size* - 2. Minutes - 1 1/2 to 2. Serving size* - 4. Minutes - 3 1/2 to 4. Caution: (bowl) and contents are hot. 4. Stir with fork about 30 seconds or until potatoes are desired consistency. Let stand 2 minutes before serving. Refrigerate leftovers. * Microwaving is not recommended for amounts over 4 servings. Preparation instructions developed using a 1100W microwave. Preparation hints: For stiffer potatoes, stir in a few more granules. For creamier potatoes, stir in a little more milk. Four servings (2 cups) prepared are equivalent to 1 pound fresh potatoes. Stir-in ideas: Prepare 4 servings of Idaho® mashed potato granules. Stir in any one of the following after potato granules are moistened. 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese. 1 tablespoon chopped green onions or fresh chives. 2 slices bacon, crispy cooked, crumbled. |
