Directions Shake It Up! [The Carton & Your Cooking]. Refrigerate unused portion. Good for 7 days. Ready to use. Do not dilute. Freeze leftover stock in freezable container and use within 60 days. Helpful Usage Tips: Use in any recipe calling for broth, stock, bouillon or water. Moisten leftovers with stock before reheating in microwave. Sauces & Gravies: For richly flavored gravy, add stock instead of water to roast beef pan drippings and thicken as desired. For a savory pan sauce, pan fry steak in butter. Remove from pan. Add stock, stirring to loosen brown bits in bottom of pan. Cook until sauce is slightly reduced. Swirl in cold butter. Serve over steak. Grains & Lentils: Replace water with stock when preparing rice, barley, couscous, quinoa or lentils. Beef Bourguignon: Prep Time: 20 minutes, Cook Time: 2 hours. 1 tbsp oil. 1 1/2 lbs Beef stew meat, cut into 1-to 1 1/2-inch cubes. 4 slices bacon, coarsely chopped. 1 Cup chopped carrots. 1 Clove garlic, finely chopped. 1 Tsp dried thyme leaves. 1 Turkish bay leaf. 2 Cups Kitchen Basics® Original Beef Stock. 1 Cup dry red wine. 1/4 Cup flour. 1 Tbsp tomato paste. 1 lb. mushrooms, quartered. 1 Pkg (16 oz.) frozen pearl onions, thawed. Heat oil in 5-quart Dutch oven on medium heat. Add beef in batches; cook until browned on all sides. Remove beef. Add bacon to Dutch oven; cook and stir until lightly browned. Add carrots, garlic, thyme and bay leaf; cook and stir 5 minutes. Mix stock, wine, flour and tomato paste in medium bowl until well blended. Add to Dutch oven. Bring to boil. Cooking stock is a central ingredient for soups, sauces and marinades. It is used by many to flavor vegetables, potatoes and rice dishes. For years, making stock from scratch has been the only way health conscious cooks have been able to control and limit ingredients, such as salt and artificial ingredients. But who has the time to make stock from scratch? In 1996, Kitchen Basics® first introduced ready-to-use cooking stocks. Our founder's grandmother's recipes were the key inspiration behind our culinary line of cooking stocks. Kitchen Basics embraces the fundamentals of homemade stock and brings to you cooking stocks that are slow simmered for that dark-rich taste and made naturally‡ from meat, vegetables and herbs without added MSG, additives, or excess salt. ‡No artificial ingredients and minimally processed. Recyclable only where facilities exist. Visit recyclecartons.com to see if recyclable in your area. Our Pledge Guaranteed Satisfaction! If you are not happy with any of our products, please call or write. If possible, save box & receipt. 1-800-632-5847. www.kitchenbasics.net.
