Directions | Directions for planting: We recommend wearing gardening gloves when using this product. This 4 qt bag fills about eight 4" standard clay pots. Select a container that is slightly larger than your plant's current pot and has a drainage hole at the bottom with a tray beneath it to catch excess water. Fill container 1/3 full with Espoma Organic African Violet Mix. Carefully remove the plant from its current container and gently loosen the root ball. Center the plant in the new container and fill with additional Mix. Allow at least 1 inch between the rim of the pot and the top of the soil. Gently pat down the Mix and add more if required. Make sure the plant is about the same depth in the soil as it was in its original container. Water plant thoroughly with a slow gentle spray and allow to drain. Do not allow water to touch leaves as this will cause water spots. Growing tips: Repotting: In general, African Violets should be repotted annually. Watering: Overwatering is one of the most common problems in growing African Violets. Water from the bottom to avoid wetting the leaves which causes water spots. Pour water into saucer below the pot and allow the pot to remain in a saucer full of water for an extended time. Allow soil to become dry to the touch between waterings. Light: Place African Violets in indirect sunlight or under artificial lights. Feeding: Feed with an Espoma Organic liquid plant food beginning 2 weeks after planting during the growing season. Storage: Store in a cool dry place. Keep bag closed to retain moisture. |
