Directions Pretzel roll directions: What you need: 3/4 cup very warm tap water; 1 egg; 1 tablespoon melted butter or margarine; all-purpose flour. Make the dough: stir together pretzel mix, pretzel salt and yeast in a large mixing bowl. Measure 3/4 cup very warm tap water (120 degrees to 130 degrees F). Add water, egg and melted butter to dry ingredients. Stir until thoroughly combined. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface. Fold the dough in half and press down. (If the dough is sticky, use a little flour on your hands.) Fold in half again and press down. Repeat until you have folded and pressed the dough 10 times, total. Shape & rise: divide dough into 6 equal pieces. Roll each into a smooth ball. Place on a well greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise 25 minutes, until slightly puffy (dough will not double in size). Boil & bake: preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Combine 6 cups water with baking soda in a large, deep saucepan until water boils (mixture will be foamy). Carefully transfer each roll onto a slotted spoon or spatula and place in boiling water (immersing completely). Boil each roll for 30 seconds, turning after 15 seconds. Replace on baking sheet. Continue with remaining rolls. Slash the top of each roll about 1/4-inch deep using a sharp knife (serrated works best) to create an "X". Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until deeply browned. Immediately remove rolls from baking sheet and place on wire rack to cool. Slice & fill with your favorite sandwich filling! Great homemade taste in 1 hour! Included: Pretzel mix. Baking soda. Yeast. Pretzel salt. What you need: 3/4 cup very warm tap water. 1 tablespoon oil. Real simple directions: 1. Stir. 2. Rinse & shape. 3. Boil & bake. Stir together pretzel mix and contents of yeast packet in a large mixing bowl. Measure 3/4 cup very warm tap water (120 degrees to 130 degrees F). Tip: yeast thrives in warm, but not hot water, so avoid the microwave and simply use tap water. Add water and oil to dry ingredients. Stir until thoroughly combined. (Dough may be stiff; use hands if desired). Cover dough and let rise 25 minutes in a warm, draft-free place. (Dough will not double in size.) Place dough on a clean, dry surface and divide into 9 equal pieces. Cover with a towel to prevent dough from drying. Roll each piece into an 18-inch rope. Make a U shape with the dough; cross left end over right end; repeat and bring ends to bottom of pretzel. Cover formed pretzels with towel. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray. Combine 6 cups water with baking soda in a large deep saucepan until water boils (mixture will be foamy). Note: Baking soda can be corrosive to certain materials. We recommend not using saucepans that have hard anodized finishes. Using a slotted spoon or spatula, dip one pretzel at a time into the boiling water. Allow pretzel to slide off spoon into the water for 10 to 15 seconds, then remove the pretzel and place on baking sheet. Continue with remaining pretzels. Sprinkle each pretzel with pretzel salt. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on wire rack. Enjoy! For a simple flavor twist, try adding: cheese, cinnamon sugar, garlic & herbs or jalapeno pepper. Do not eat raw dough.
