Directions | To hot cooked rice add: Sprinkle on Parmesan cheese, chopped fresh spinach and chopped tomatoes for a healthy favorite. Mix in chopped celery, onion and carrots. Top with crumbled Feta cheese and fat-free Italian dressing for a fast and easy salad. Add steamed vegetables like carrots, zucchini, and pearl onions. Top with Parmesan cheese thyme for a healthy, tasty side dish. A combination of cilantro raisins and orange zest are flavorful additions to hot cooked, buttered rice. Great meal ideas: Cooked and cooled white rice provides a wonderful base for fresh chopped tomatoes, fresh basil leaves and lemon vinaigrette. For crispness, add chopped cucumbers. Simple pilaf - Prepare rice in chicken broth instead of water, add sauteed onions, mushrooms, and green peppers. Top with toasted pine nuts. Chicken seasoned rice - Combine 3 cups cooked rice with 2 tablespoons margarine, 1 chicken flavored bouillon cube, crushed, and 1 teaspoon parsley flakes. Cheesy rice - Combine 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup shredded cheese, and 1 chicken flavored bouillon cube, crushed. Heat until cheese melts Stir into 3 cups cooked rice. Cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Reduce setting to 50% power, microwave for 15 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes. ***It is recommended that only 1 cup rice be prepared in the microwave at a time. Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate. To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or drain after cooking. |
